Shukla Yajurveda - Chapter 21 - Selected Statements



1. Do not show disrespect to learned persons (S.3).

 

2. For crossing water, use a leak-free boat bult by skilled architects and rowed with good rudders and equipped with manifold anchors. (S. 6 and 7).

 

3. O learned people! You drink the essence of knowledge. Please help us in our wealth generating efforts and projects (S.11). 

 

4. Sprinkle water on walking paths (S. 8,9).

 

5. Make efforts to protect your body and to live for long period of time. (S.12)

 

6. Make efforts produce many objects even though they may be destructible. (S.13)

 

7. Develop intellectual mind, learn many things, but develop self satisfaction (S.14).

 

8. Make efforts to acquire objects and skills that increase your power (S.16).

 

9. Natural resource (earth), intellect (your knowledge) and good speech or talk (ability to mix with people and get their help or involvement) help you in attaining useful objects and wealth (S.19).

 

10. Change your routines according to seasons (S.23,24,25,26,27,28). For each of the six rutus there is shloka in this chapter.

 

11. Persons acquire wealth by dint of exertion and they become laudable. (s.32)

 

12. A learned person acts as a physician for removing our doubts. (S.33)

 

13. A sacrificial hall needs entry points or door.. The hall is to be protected from rain and fire. (S.34) (Comments: Many fire accidents are occurred in marriage functions. This statement from veda is interesting in this respect).

 

14. People must be beautiful and must make their spouses happy. But control over passion is very important and they must faithful to each other. (S.35)

 

15. A learned can utilise even a powerful bull. With learning you can guide physically powerful animals also. (S.38).
